Walking on sand

As relaxing as it is to lie on the beach, sand is not just for lying; walking on the sand barefoot has massive benefits. It is such a fun, low impact activity that is accessible to most people.

Did you know that barefoot walking has been shown to help increase antioxidants, reduce inflammation and even improve sleep!

  • It is great for fitness, balance and proprioception because of the inconsistency of the sand and the surface. The sand of grains changing constantly adds more to the challenge. We burn more calories when we walk barefoot in the sand because of the added challenge

  • Walking barefoot on the sand stimulates more nerves on the feet than walking in shoes

  • Feels really nice and relaxing. This is because we absorb electrons and feel a sense of grounding

  • Reconnecting with nature alone is helpful in reducing stress and boosting the mood

  • As an added benefit the sand grains exfoliate the skin on the sole of the feet

Why don’t you take your walk to the beach in the early hours of the day or around sunset ?
